Vol. 287 No. 2

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take No. 10 (Resumed) and No. 11 at 3.30 p.m. Questions will be taken from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. The Dáil will sit next week as follows: On Tuesday from 3 o'clock to 10.30 p.m., on Wednesday from 10.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m., and on Thursday from 10.30 a.m. to 5 o'clock.

Can the Taoiseach say if there is any special reason for starting the all-day sittings so early in the session?

Except to get on with the business. There are many Bills to be passed. The Leader of the Opposition asked yesterday about the Local Government (Planning and Development) Bill. We want to get that Bill and other Bills passed.

It was not lack of time which delayed that Bill.

It was a good deal of obstruction from the Opposition.

No. You cannot deliver the goods. You cannot make up your minds.

Plenty of obstruction.

Circulate the legislation.

(Dublin Central): With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I should like to raise on the Adjournment the question of the dispute between the Irish Post Office Engineering Unions and the Department of Posts and Telegraphs. This dispute has been going on for some time and is causing grave disquiet amongst the industrial section of the community. I should like to discuss it with the Minister if possible.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

May I ask the Taoiseach when it is intended to discuss the new amendment to the Anti-Discrimination (Pay) (Amendment) Bill?

When it is drafted.

A little more help and a little more co-operation would be appreciated.

As I explained yesterday, there are legal problems involved in the drafting of the amendment, as well as the policy decision. The policy decision has been taken and the legal aspects are being expedited.

Obviously the legal problems have existed since 18th December. Can the Taoiseach say when it may be possible to solve those legal problems?

I hope in about a week or so.
