Vol. 287 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Entitlements.

26.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will indicate the various social welfare entitlements payable in this country in comparison with those payable in each of the EEC countries.

The most recent information on social security benefits in EEC member States is contained in the Commission publication "Comparative Tables of the Social Security Systems in the Member States of the European Communities, Eighth Edition" which relates to the situation at 1st July, 1974. I have arranged for a copy to be placed in the Oireachtas Library.

Would it not have been possible for the Minister to have had a tabular statement giving the information included in the Official Report?

I have not seen the document yet so I do not know whether it will be sufficient to give it in abbreviated form.

If the document is reasonably short in regard to detail would the Minister consider having it included in the Official Report for easy reference?

I shall use my judgment, and if this is feasible I shall comply with the Deputy's request.
