The decision to compile an inventory was finalised as recently as 8th December at a council meeting which I attended.
Ireland played a full part in the preparation of the scheme. Indeed, the methodology for compiling the inventory was devised by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards for the Commission.
The country will also play its part in compiling and operating the inventory. Information for the purpose is at present being collected by An Foras Forbartha in conjunction with the National Science Council.
