Vol. 287 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electronic Traffic Aids.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government if contingency plans have been drawn up to facilitate the use of the proposed electronic traffic aids on major roads as proposed by the EEC, in view of the fact that 19 European countries have already shown interest in this particular project and that Ireland is not included among them.

As has been explained to the Deputy in reply to previous questions of his, what is involved here is an international research study of a highly technical nature which will extend over some years. This country maintains an interest in the work and will follow developments. At this stage there is no question of "contingency plans".
