Vol. 287 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cleaning Contract.

8.

asked the Minister for the Public Service if a cleaning contract in respect of his Department was given to a person (name supplied); when the contract was placed; the number of tenders received; and whether the lowest tender was accepted.

In regard to the first part of the question, no cleaning contract for my Department was given to the person named. The remaining parts, accordingly, do not arise.

I think the remaining parts do arise. If any cleaning contracts have been given out by the Department, was the lowest tender accepted in each case?

No contract was placed but the existing contractor was re-employed on a day to day basis at his old price plus the national wage agreement. This course was adopted in view of the fact that the Public Service Department was moving to the new Setanta building.
