Vol. 287 No. 8

Written Answers. - Leaving and Intermediate Examinations.

148.

asked the Minister for Education the numbers who obtained grades A, B and C respectively in each of the different subjects at the leaving and intermediate certificate examinations from 1971 to 1975.

Since the introduction of results by grades at the intermediate and leaving certificate examinations in 1969, it has been the practice to prepare results statistics in three groupings —that is A-C grades; D grade; and E and lower grades—these groupings corresponding approximately to the previous statistics of honours pass and fail. It would not be normal to change this practice without prior discussion with the school authorities.
