Written Answers. - County Sligo Schools.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the erection of a new national school at Corballa, County Sligo; and when it is expected that building will start.

A grant has been sanctioned by my Department towards the cost of a new central school at Corballa, County Sligo.

It is not possible at present to say when building will start.

111.

asked the Minister for Education the position regarding a new national school at Enniscrone, County Sligo; and when it is expected that building will start.

It has been decided to replace the existing Enniscrone national school by a new school on a new site.

A special survey is being carried out in order to ascertain the accommodation which will be needed in the new school to meet the requirements of the area. When this matter has been brought to decision the Commissioners of Public Works will be requested to prepare sketch plans for the new buildings.

I cannot at this stage say when building work will commence.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the building of a new national school at Easkey, County Sligo; and when it is expected work will commence.

Sketch plans for the erection of a new national school at Easkey, County Sligo, have been prepared by the Office of Public Works. My Department is in communication with the solicitors who are acting for the school authorities regarding the furnishing of evidence of title to the site.

It is not possible, at present, to say when building work will commence.

asked the Minister for Education the amount of money he is allocating towards the extension and development of Sligo Regional Technical College.

I am allocating £1,000,000 approximately, towards the cost of building, furnishing and equipping the extension to Sligo regional technical college.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the erection of a new Protestant school in Sligo town; the cost; and when it is expected work will commence.

I am hopeful that authorisation may be given very soon for the acceptance of a tender for the building of a new school in Sligo town. Until the contract has been placed, I am not in a position to make any statement as to the cost of the project or as to when building work will commence.
