Vol. 288 No. 8

Written Answers. - Mayo Unemployment Assistance.

49.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in deciding the appeal of a person (name supplied) in County Mayo against a decision refusing him unemployment assistance.

Unemployment assistance was not refused in this case. The person concerned is being paid such assistance at the rate appropriate to his weekly rate of means as assessed by a deciding officer. He has appealed against the deciding officer's decision and in connection with his appeal it has been necessary to make further inquiries regarding his means. Every effort is being made to have these inquiries completed following which the case will be submitted without delay to an appeals officer for consideration.
