Vol. 288 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Departmental Staff Vacancies.

1.

andMr. Power asked the Minister for Labour the number of staff vacancies in his Department on 1st January, 1976.

There were 40 vacancies in my Department on 1st January, 1976.

How many vacancies have been filled since then?

I do not have that information.

Can the Minister indicate the type of vacancies there were in his Department and at what levels?

I can give that information to the Deputy and it will be in the form of a tabular statement.

Will the Minister have that information circulated to all Deputies?

Of course, if I supply it to the Deputy it will not be unique to the Deputy.

This question is similar to ones asked of various Ministers in recent days. The other Ministers were in a position to inform us as to whether any of those vacancies had been filled since 1st January. One would have expected that the Minister for Labour would be more on the ball than anybody else in this regard.

I have replied to the question. The material I have here, prepared by my Department, does not tell me how many of these staff were appointed since. If the Deputy desires that information I can obtain it for him.

How do I get the information from the Minister?

I have replied to the question I was asked.
