Written Answers. - Domiciliary Care Allowance.

81.

asked the Minister for Health why a domiciliary care allowance for a handicapped child was not paid to a person (name supplied) in County Clare; and if he will arrange to have the case reviewed.

My information as regards the case referred to by the Deputy is that the application for a grant was refused by the health board after consideration of the medical reports on the case, on the grounds that the necessary conditions of eligibility were not satisfied, with particular reference to the degree of care which the child required. I understand that the case has recently been reviewed but that the original decision has been confirmed.
