Vol. 289 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Free Hospitalisation Scheme.

18.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state (a) the date on which the review body on the methods of payments to consultants under the proposed free hospitalisation scheme was established (b) the number of meetings of that body to date (c) the visits, if any, made by the members of the review body abroad (d) if any interim report has been prepared (e) the total expenses to date and (f) when the final report will be made.

Since its establishment on 11th July, 1974, the review body has had 30 formal meetings. The members of the body have already visited Scotland and I understand that they propose to visit Canada shortly. An interim report has not been prepared. The total expenditure of the body to date is £3,000 approximately. It is anticipated that their report will be submitted to me towards the end of the summer.
