Vol. 289 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Donegal Farmhouse Applications.

5.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of specific instance and specific farmhouse applications from Donegal County Council awaiting approval by his Department.

There are no such applications awaiting my approval. Under devolved procedures, it is the housing authority's responsibility to deal with them within the overall capital allocation for the year.

I have notified Donegal County Council that their total authorised capital expenditure for 1976 on the local authority housing construction programme is £2,132,000. This is an increase of almost £225,000 on the corresponding level of authorised expenditure in respect of 1975. I intend to review the level of expenditure and output on the programme generally later in the year and additional allocations may then be made for new work to be started in the last quarter of the year.

I am glad to take this opportunity to inform the House that Donegal County Council completed 351 local authority houses last year and 832, or an average of 25 a month, since 1st April, 1973. This level of monthly output is more than twice as high as that achieved in the previous four financial years.
