asked the Minister for Labour (a) the total number of redundancies reported to him for the year ended 31st December, 1975, (b) the total amount of money paid out by way of lump sum payments and weekly payments in respect of them, (c) the balance due on weekly payments, (d) the names of the companies in respect of which redundancies were reported and (e) the payments made in respect of each company.

(a) The total number of redundancies notified by employers during 1975 as qualified for redundancy payments was 19,004; (b) In 1975 lump sum payments to redundant workers paid directly from the Redundancy Fund amounted to approximately £497,000. Rebates paid from the fund to employers in the same period in respect of lump sums discharged by employers totalled approximately £2.8 million. Weekly redundancy payments totalled approximately £3.8 million; (c) Information is not compiled on a basis which would enable this to be estimated; (d) & (e) I do not consider that it would be appropriate to publish this information.
