asked the Minister for Local Government (a) the number of planning appeals on which he has decided since 14th March, 1973, for each county, corporation, urban council and county council (b) the number he has granted and (c) the number he has refused.

Figures giving a breakdown of appeal decisions are not maintained by reference to individual planning authority areas. I can give the Deputy a breakdown of appeal decisions for the period in question on a national basis. These figures are in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with the permission of the Cheann Comhairle, to have circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

Appeals against decisions to refuse permission or approval

Appeals by developers against decisions to grant permission or approval subject to conditions

Appeals by aggrieved third parties against decisions to grant permission or approval

Total number of appeals decided by Minister or Parliamentary Secretary

Permission or approval granted on appeal with or without conditions.

Permission or approval refused.

Permission or approval granted subject to same conditions as planning authority

Permission or approval granted subject to revised or additional conditions.

Permission or approval refused.

Permission or approval granted in accordance with decision of planning authority

Permission or approval granted subject to conditions or additional or revised conditions

Permission or approval refused

NOTE: The above figures relate to appeals formally decided and exclude 3,162 appeals otherwise disposed of (withdrawn, invalid, etc.) during the period.
