Vol. 290 No. 3

Written Answers. - Widow's Pension.

26.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when the widow's pension will be granted to a person (name supplied) in County Meath who applied almost two months ago.

The person named by the Deputy made a claim for a widow's contributory pension on 8th March, 1976. Her claim was investigated and it was found that the contribution conditions for the award of such pension were not satisfied on her late husband's Irish insurance record. Steps have been taken to have the claim examined under the EEC regulations as her husband was also insured in the United Kingdom. The relevant papers have accordingly been forwarded to the Department of Health and Social Security, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. In the meantime the person concerned was asked to complete a claim for a widow's noncontributory pension. This claim is at present being investigated by my Department's local officer and it is expected that a decision on the matter will be made at an early date.
