Vol. 290 No. 7

Written Answers. - Liberties (Dublin) Educational Facilities.

52.

(Dublin Central) asked the Minister for Education his plans in respect of second-level education in the Liberties, Dublin; and his intentions regarding the provision of additional facilities for adult and continuing education in the area.

Schemes of adaptation and extension of buildings have been approved in the case of the Holy Faith Convent, The Coombe, and the Presentation Convent, Warrenmount. Approval has also been given for the erection of a new school to replace the existing James's Street, Christian Brothers secondary school. A proposal by the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee to purchase the Iveagh Trust building, which is partially occupied by the Vocational School, Bull Alley Street, is currently under consideration.

Adult education classes are conducted by the Vocational Education Committee in the Bull Alley school and I understand that it is the intention to expand the range of these classes.
