Vol. 290 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Liffey Salmon Stocks.

17.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the steps, if any, being taken to preserve and increase the stocks of salmon in the Liffey fisheries.

Substantial restocking of the River Liffey with salmon ova and fingerlings has been carried out in recent years by the Dublin Board of Conservators with the aid of my Department. The beneficial effects of this restocking are diminished by pollution in the Liffey but measures are at present being taken which should substantially improve the situation.
