Vol. 290 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fermoy Hospital Building.

3.

asked the Minister for Health if, in view of the protestations of public representatives and the general public against the demolition of the Fermoy Hospital, County Cork, and in view of the lack of hospital accommodation in the area, he will immediately direct the Southern Health Board to discontinue demolition of the buildings pending further inquiry and consideration of the situation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I presume the Deputy's question relates to the proposed demolition of block A of Fermoy hospital. This block is in very poor condition and adequate and improved alternative accommodation is, I understand, available for those previously housed there or still there.

In these circumstances I do not intend to intervene in the matter.
