Vol. 290 No. 10

Written Answers. - School Transport Service.

51.

asked the Minister for Education if he will arrange to have the school transport from the Killyon area, Birr, County Offaly, to Rath national school changed so that the children may arrive at 9.30 a.m. instead of 9.00 a.m., as they have to wait around at present for the school to open.

The contractor operating the transport service to Rath national school also operates another service for handicapped children to a special school in Birr. It is not possible to arrange for both sets of pupils to arive at their respective schools at 9.30 a.m. without employing an additional contractor and this would involve considerable additional expense. I have, however, arranged for a somewhat later arrival time for the Killyon children, 9.15 a.m. instead of 9.00 a.m.
