Vol. 291 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Poultry Instructors.

36.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries why the poultry management and technician course being arranged by his Department is confined to male applicants.

37.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if courses for poultry instructors will be resumed in the Munster Institute; and if not, why.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I propose to take Questions Nos. 36 and 37 together. The poultry-keeping course which was suspended in 1975 because of lack of demand will be resumed when there are sufficient numbers to justify the running of it. The poultry management and technician course was initiated in 1973 as a result of representations made by the National Poultry Council of Ireland concerning the need for such specialist training for men.

38.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he has received any request from the association representing poultry instructors for a meeting with him; if he will accede to this request; and, if not, why.

I have received no such request.
