Vol. 291 No. 15

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

113.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a decision will be reached on the application for disability benefit of a person in County Meath (name supplied) who applied last February and who has been employed for the past three-anda-half years.

The person referred to by the Deputy was not qualified for payment of disability benefit at time of claiming having less than 26 contributions paid or credited in the contribution year governing the period of the claim. Following investigation by my Department arrears of contributions were collected from the employer on 29th June, 1976. These contributions qualified the claimant for payment of benefit at the appropriate maximum rate and arrears due were issued on the same date.

114.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when full disability will be paid to a person in County Meath (name supplied) who is married and has a family.

The person referred to by the Deputy was paid increases of benefit due in respect of his wife and children on 29th June, 1976.

115.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a decision will be reached on the application of a person (name supplied) in County Meath for unemployment assistance.

Unemployment assistance was not payable to the person concerned on his application of 30th March, 1976, as he was not the holder of a qualification certificate.

His application for such a certificate is being investigated by a social welfare officer. The investigation which involves the legal transfer and letting of a holding of land has proved to be unusually complicated. Every effort is being made to have the necessary inquiries completed and a report furnished as soon as possible following which decisions will be given on his applications for a qualification certificate and for unemployment assistance without delay.
