Vol. 293 No. 1

Written Answers. - FCA Service.

97.

asked the Minister for Defence if permanent members of the FCA who are engaged in fulltime service on the Border will get credit for this service if they join the Army.

Any person who has completed not less than three years' satisfactory service on the effective strength of the FCA may be enlisted in the Permanent Defence Force up to 35 years of age instead of the normal 32 years.

Full-time security duty by members of the FCA is not, however, reckonable as service in the Permanent Defence Force for pension, gratuity or any other purpose in the case of person who carried out such duty and who subsequently enlisted in the permanent Defence Force.
