Vol. 293 No. 11

Written Answers. - Places of Detention.

51.

asked the Minister for Justice if, in view of the increasing number of persons being detained under emergency legislation in Cork city and county, he will take immediate steps to improve sleeping accommodation, toilet facilities, food and living conditions generally in the Bridewell, Cork and other places of detention.

The statement that an increasing number of persons is being detained under emergency legislation in Cork city and county is not correct. As it so happens, however, a country-wide review is being undertaken of the other matters referred to in the question.
