Vol. 294 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Factories.

18.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if the IDA has any plans to build advance factories in the Walkinstown and Tallaght areas of County Dublin.

I understand from the Industrial Development Authority that they have no plans for the construction of advance factories at either Walkinstown or Tallaght. Because of the extent to which privately owned premises suitable for industrial use are already available or are being developed in these areas, it is considered that there would be no special advantage in the provision by the Industrial Development Authority of advance factories.

(Dublin Central): Will the Minister state if advance factories are proposed for any part of Dublin? Is it part of the Minister's plan——

That is an extension of this question, which deals with Walkinstown and Tallaght——

(Dublin Central): This is very important because we have a serious unemployment problem in Dublin——

I am sorry but I must remind the Deputy that the Chair has an obligation in these matters.

(Dublin Central): Advance factories would attract manufacturers. I know one manufacturer at the moment who would be very anxious to get an advance factory.
