Vol. 294 No. 7

Written Answers. - Dublin Housing Estate.

59.

(Dublin Central) asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the situation that has arisen in a housing estate in Inchicore Square, Inchicore, Dublin, following the sale of houses by CIE where Dublin Corporation refuses to maintain open spaces and roadways unless CIE first bring the roadways up to a required standard of repair; and if he will ensure that the residents of this estate get the service they are entitled to.

I understand from Dublin Corporation that the Inchicore housing estate is owned by CIE, that the corporation are not responsible for its maintenance and that no request has been received by the corporation from CIE to take the estate in charge. In the event of such a request being made, the corporation would require the roads to be brought up to a satisfactory standard before they would take them in charge and they have informed CIE of the position. I have no power to intervene in the matter.
