Vol. 294 No. 7

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

67.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange to have a telephone kiosk erected at Nadd, Banteer, County Cork.

Kiosks are not provided in rural areas such as Nadd where there is no post office. The erection of a kiosk at Nadd cannot, therefore, be favourably considered.

68.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will consider providing a telephone kiosk in the area of Pearse Brothers Park and Palmer Park, Ballyboden, County Dublin, to facilitate the residents of these estates.

The use made of the existing kiosks serving the area is not sufficient to justify provision of an additional kiosk in the general area at present. The matter is, however, being kept under review in the light of housing and other development in the area.

69.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in providing a telephone service for a person in the Dublin area (name supplied).

The delay has been caused by a fault in the underground cable serving the applicant's premises. It is expected that service will be provided for the applicant within the next week on completion of replacement of a section of cable.
