Vol. 294 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Agricultural Offices.

8.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the reason for the change of the Agriculture and Bovine Tuberculosis Offices from Denny Street, Tralee, County Kerry, to Oakpark; and if he will cancel the arrangement at this stage as it is extremely inconvenient for farmers who travel by train and bus from the Caherciveen, Kenmare, Killarney and Dingle areas of County Kerry and who will have to hire cars, which is quite costly, to go the two-and-a-half miles to Oakpark.

The proposed location of the Tralee District Veterinary and other local offices of my Department at Oakpark where the offices of the Kerry County Committee of Agriculture are already established is the speediest and most inexpensive means of securing suitable unified offices for these staffs and it also achieves the Government's aim of having all the services catering for farmers on the same site. In my opinion this will bring considerable advantages to farmers and I do not at all accept the Deputy's contention to the contrary.
