Vol. 295 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Reform.

15.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Government propose to present an outline of their policy on land reform (a) to the Dáil or (b) in a White Paper.

The Deputy may be aware that within the past few months the Taoiseach, in consultation with the Ministers for Agriculture and Fisheries, Finance and Lands established a group to carry out a comprehensive and wideranging review of the existing policy and programme of land structural reform and to formulate proposals and options for future land policy. The group which comprises representatives from the Departments of the Taoiseach, Agriculture and Fisheries, Finance, Lands, An Foras Talúntais, the Agricultural Advisory Services and the Economic and Social Research Institute have been asked to report promptly to the Taoiseach. I understand that the main farming organisations and rural bodies have been invited to make submissions to the group. As yet I am unable to say when the report of the group's deliberations will be available.
