Vol. 295 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flood Relief Work.

15.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will allocate £50,000 for temporary relief work on the Lung river between Roscommon and Mayo, with a view to the relief of flooding on several hundred farmers' land in that area.

The Commissioners of Public Works have no funds which they could allocate for temporary relief work as suggested. They have, however, under investigation a scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945 for the Boyle catchment which includes the Lung River; at this stage it is not possible to say when this scheme might commence.
