Vol. 295 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Soldiers' Pensions.

11.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that the pension of an NCO or a private ceases at his death while the widow of an officer receives half the pension payable to her husband; and if he intends to make any alteration in these regulations.

The question of introducing a contributory widow's and children's pension scheme for serving non-commissioned officers and privates is under examination. As a number of complex issues are involved, I am not in a position to say when a decision will be reached.
