Vol. 296 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Old Age Pension.

14.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in forwarding an old age pension book to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The person concerned has claimed retirement pension. A statutory condition for the receipt of this pension requires an applicant to have not less than 156 employment contributions paid in respect of his employment. According to the records of my Department, the total number of contributions for pension purposes paid in respect of the person concerned is 107. As I have already indicated in my reply to the Deputy's previous question in May last this claimant does not satisfy the contribution condition which I have mentioned and, accordingly, he has failed to qualify for pension.
