Vol. 296 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Workers.

18.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will make arrangements to allow forestry workers to have the Whit Monday and August bank holidays off rather than the extra days at other times of the year.

The arrangement whereby days off, viz. Ascension Thursday and Corpus Christi are allowed to forest workers in lieu of the June and August public holidays has been in force for many years and there has been no request, heretofore, from the workers or their accredited representatives for a change in this arrangement.

If there is evidence that a majority of forest workers desire a change, my Department would be prepared to review the situation.
