Vol. 296 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Western Development Board HQ.

42.

asked the Minister for the Public Service if he will have the headquarters of the Western Development Board sited in Kiltimagh, County Mayo.

The organisational arrangements for the establishment of the Western Development Board are being developed by my Department in consultation with the other Departments concerned. No decision has yet been taken on the location of the headquarters of the board. However, when this question is being decided, all representations in the matter will receive very careful consideration.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that Kiltimagh is one of the most depressed areas in County Mayo? Therefore, I suggest that this location be considered as a site for the Western Development Board.

The Deputy's representations will be borne in mind when it is being decided where the headquarters will be situated.

Will the headquarters be located somewhere in the west or north west?

No firm decision has yet been reached but it is fairly definite that it will be in the west.

What about Manorhamilton?

County Leitrim is listed with all the other places.

The Parliamentary Secretary will be slipping up if he does not include Leitrim.
