Vol. 296 No. 1

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1, 2, 12 (resumed) and 13 (resumed). By agreement there will be no interruption this week for Private Members Business.

In conjunction with Deputies Andrews and Dowling I would like to raise on the adjournment the announcement by the Minister for Industry and Commerce yesterday of an increase of 26 per cent in the price of coal.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

Could the Taoiseach indicate when the Údarás na Gaeltachta Bill will be circulated?

I will ask the Minister and I will let the Deputy know.

Is the Taoiseach aware that on the 18th December the Minister for the Gaeltacht indicated that the Bill would be circulated during the recess and that it would be taken today?

I think the Bill has been drafted, so it should be circulated very soon.

Will the Taoiseach accept that "very soon" has been promised since 1973 and that the people in the Gaeltacht, especially, are beginning to suspect promises which are being made to them and to this House and are not being honoured?

We do not deal in promises but in facts.

(Interruptions.)

Could the Taoiseach tell the Dáil when the Constituency Bill for the European parliamentary elections will come before the House?

As soon as possible.
