Vol. 296 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salmon Fishing Licences.

36.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if, in view of the large increase in the cost of salmon fishing licences, he will consider issuing such licences at the old rate or a substantially reduced rate to qualified persons over 65 years of age who have been fishing all their lives; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The terms of the order under which the duties in respect of salmon fishing licences were recently increased do not permit of licences being issued at reduced rates. Accordingly, it is not possible to accede to the Deputy's request.
