Vol. 296 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Cycle Plates.

6.

asked the Minister for Local Government if and when he intends to dispense with the regulation requiring a metal number plate to be affixed to the top of front mudguards of motor cycles since it poses a serious hazard to passing pedestrians as well as to the riders in an accident situation.

The matter raised by the Deputy has been under examination in my Department involving consultation with other relevant authorities. I am at present considering the results of this examination and if, as a consequence, the position warrants a modification of the existing regulations, I shall proceed to do so. I hope to reach an early decision.
