Under the terms of the national teachers' superannuation scheme a pension may not be granted to a teacher unless at the date of retirement such teacher has not less than ten years' pensionable service.
A scheme for granting additional years of pensionable credit to certain teachers who were unable to secure pensionable employment during the existence of overall redundancy in the period 1926-1947 is being prepared. The question as to whether the teacher involved could benefit from the scheme and thus qualify for the award of a pension is being examined.
