Vol. 296 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Defence Organisation Membership.

6.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government have received or are considering any proposals for this country's association or membership of any international defence organisation.

The answer to the Deputy's questions is in the negative.

If there are to be any such proposals would the Parliamentary Secretary undertake to communicate with the Opposition so that we would be aware of them?

I do not think I should give any such undertaking, although I am indicating that I would be sympathetic to the Deputy's suggestion. We had better wait until the Minister is here.

Does the Parliamentary Secretary not see the desirability of communicating with the Opposition?

I will pass on the Deputy's remarks to the Minister.
