Vol. 296 No. 12

Written Answers. - Road Fund Allocations.

50.

asked the Minister for Local Government the total allocation to local authorities from the Road Fund in 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1977 at current prices and at constant prices.

In response to a previous question by the Deputy, I have already supplied the total allocations from the Road Fund in 1974, 1975 and 1976, and also an estimate of cost increases affecting the building and construction industry between 1974 and 1976. The Road Fund grants for 1977 total £26.57 millions, an increase of approximately 30 per cent over 1976, while it is estimated that cost increases affecting the building and construction industry amount to 15.5 per cent between 1976 and 1977.

51.

asked the Minister for Local Government the total amount collected in motor taxation and driving fees in 1976; and the amount of the grant from the Road Fund to each county in 1977.

Provisional figures indicate that the amount of vehicle excise duties including driving licence fees collected in 1976 was £37,027,793. The information requested in the second part of the question was set out in a written reply on 15th February, 1977, to a question put by Deputy Connolly.
