asked the Minister for Justice the number of gardaí stationed in Sundrive Road Garda Barracks, Dublin, in each of the years 1970, 1973 and 1977; and the number of crimes detected in each of these years in the area.

The strength of the Garda Síochána in Sundrive Road Station at present is 45. On 1st January, 1970, it was 47 and on 1st January, 1973, it was 41.

The following table shows the number of indictable crimes committed and detected in the Sundrive Road sub-district in the relevant periods:

asked the Minister for Justice the progress that has been made towards providing a new Garda barracks at Irishtown, Dublin.

Premises have been acquired by the Office of Public Works in Irishtown for use as a Garda station and proposals for their adaptation are under consideration. It is not possible yet to indicate when the adaptation works will commence.
