asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the closure since last year of the public roadway at Birchall's Bridge, Nire Valley, County Waterford, that this bridge will not be repaired for some months yet and of the great inconvenience being caused to at least 30 families in three townlands; if he will consider having a bailey bridge temporarily placed there; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Waterford County Council gave public notice of this closure in accordance with the Temporary Closing of Roads Regulations, 1956, and, I am advised, received no objections to their proposal. The execution of remedial works is the responsibility of Waterford County Council. I understand that work is in progress and is expected to be completed by the end of April.
