Vol. 297 No. 8

Written Answers. - School Transport Service.

38.

asked the Minister for Education if he is yet in a position to accede to the request of the committee in charge of the handicapped children's school in Edenderry, County Offaly, to provide free transport for three children from Walsh Island and three from Clonbullogue on the Church of Ireland school bus serving Edenderry.

CIE have been authorised to issue tickets to the three children from Walsh Island to enable them to travel to the special class in Edenderry on the Church of Ireland service. They will be collected at a pick-up point approximately four miles from their homes. I understand that the Offaly Association for the Mentally Handicapped is prepared to provide transport for them from their homes to the pick-up point. Two children from Clonbullogue have been in receipt of free transport since September, 1976, and a ticket was issued to a third child on 18th June, 1976.
