The information available relates to robberies and attempted robberies in which firearms were produced. The number of such incidents in each of the years 1970 to 1976 was 11, 57, 143, 107, 140, 153 and 186, respectively.
Brief particulars of each case are published in an appendix to the Annual Reports of the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána on Crime but the reports prior to that for 1975 relate to the year ended 30th September and not to the calendar year. The reports are on sale and copies are available in the Oireachtas Library.
