The relevant authorities have not yet authorised the 2nd Phase increase which in the normal course will not become aplicable to roadworkers throughout the local authority service, (with the exception of Cork County Council) until 1st November, 1977. However, it is estimated that the application of the second phase would result in the following wage levels:

* With effect from 1st September, 1977 as the employees concerned are early starters under the National Wage Agreements. A further adjustment in the Cork County Council rates with effect from 1st January, 1977 arises following a recent recommendation by the Labour Court.
