I have already approved of the extension of the Trustee Savings Banks' services relating to personal loans and bridging loans. I hope to be in a position to deal with other proposals from the banks at an early date. These proposals, however, are of a more fundamental nature affecting the status of the banks and must be considered in a much wider context.
