Vol. 300 No. 9

Business of Dáil.

Yesterday I asked for a written reply to Question No. 47 and it was indicated to me that such was not possible. I am a new Member of this House and my understanding was that a Member could seek a written reply and obtain it immediately. It was not furnished to me yesterday, and my inquiry now is whether a written reply can be furnished to me today to Question No. 47?

I will have the matter investigated.

Is this as far as I can go? Has the Minister any comment to make?

I do not think it is a question of the Minister refusing. My understanding is that if there is more than one question on the same subject down from different Deputies there is a problem about giving a written reply. There is more than one question on this subject. The Minister would be ready to reply if necessary.

Would this preclude the Minister from making the reply available today?

Whatever information is available will be given to the Deputy when I have the matter looked into.
