asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of women who are paid unmarried mothers' allowance in respect of (i) two children, (ii) three children, (iii) four children, and (iv) five or more children.

The numbers of women who were being paid unmarried mothers' allowance in respect of (i) two children, (ii) three children, (iii) four children and (iv) five or more children at the 5th August, 1977, which is the latest date for which figures are available, were (i) 359, (ii) 89, (iii) 46 and (iv) 24.
