Messages from Seanad.

Seanad Éireann has passed the Garda Síochána Bill, 1977.

Seanad Éireann has made the following order:

That, in pursuance of Standing Order No. 56 of the Standing Orders relative to private Business, a Select Committee be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee of Dáil Éireann to constitute the Joint Committee on Standing Orders.

Seanad Éireann has made the following order:

That, in pursuance of Standing Order No. 101 of the Standing Orders relative to Public Business, a Select Committee be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee of Dáil Éireann to constitute the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills;

That the Chairman of the Joint Committee shall have only one vote; and

That all questions in the Joint Committee shall be determined by a majority of votes of the members present and voting and in the event of there being an equality of votes the question shall be decided in the negative.

Seanad Éireann has made the following order:

That the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Bill, 1976, which has been revived, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.

Seanad Éireann has made the following order:

That a Select Committee consisting of seven members be appointed to be joined with the Select Committee appointed by Dáil Éireann to assist and advise the Ceann Comhairle and the Cathaoirleach in the direction and control of the Oireachtas Library;

That the Joint Committee, previous to the commencement of business, shall elect one of its members to be Chairman, who shall have only one vote;

That all questions in the Joint Committee shall be determined by a majority of votes of the members present and voting and in the event of there being an equality of votes the question shall be decided in the negative; and

That four members of the Joint Committee shall form a quorum of whom two shall be members of Dáil Éireann and two shall be members of Seanad Éireann.

Seanad Éireann has made the following order:

That a Select Committee consisting of seven members be appointed to be joined with the Select Committee appointed by Dáil Éireann to direct and control the Oireachtas Restaurant;

That the Joint Committee, previous to the commencement of business, shall elect one of its members to be Chairman, who shall have only one vote;

That all questions in the Joint Committee shall be determined by a majority of votes of the members present and voting and in the event of their being an equality of votes the question shall be decided in the negative; and

That four members of the Joint Committee shall form a quorum of whom two shall be members of Dáil Éireann and two shall be members of Seanad Éireann."

The Dáil adjourned at 8.50 p.m. until 10.30 a.m. on Thursday, 10th November, 1977.
