I regret that I cannot say when work may proceed on the completion of the pier improvement works at Clare Island. The execution of a contract agreement for the outstanding work has had to be deferred pending a solution of contractual issues arising from the abandonment of the original contract for the scheme. Proposals for solution of these issues are under consideration by the Commissioners of Public Works and they hope to be in a position shortly to decide on measures to secure completion of the work.
