asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, in relation to the periods ended 31st December, 1975, 31st December, 1976, and 31st December, 1977, the number of (a) individuals, (b) discretionary trusts and (c) private non-trading companies who made payments of wealth tax referable to the valuation dates of 5th April, 1975, 5th April, 1976, and 5th April, 1977; and the amount of wealth tax collected from each category of assessable persons in each of the periods concerned.

The statistics dealing with wealth tax which are at present available do not provide the information sought in relation to the valuation dates 5th April, 1976, and 5th April, 1977.
The statistics available do, however, provide the following information regarding cases relating to the valuation date 5th April, 1975, which were examined and assessed to tax from the introduction of the tax up to 30th April, 1977.
